Summary of position:

One intern will be selected to work with the Marketing Department in IES Abroad's Chicago office to work on social media related projects, and assist the Department with larger projects and campaigns as needed. This internship is a great way for a current or recent college student to gain real-world marketing experience.


Essential job responsibilities & duties:

  • Edit videos for the website and for IES Abroad's social media platforms
  • Assist with video focused prospect emails
  • Assist with video recordings and interviews with Chicago HQ staff
  • Add content to and assist in the curation of our social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Ideate Facebook Live ideas in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Video & Social Media Coordinator, as well as assisting in set-up and execution
  • Explore SEO optimization of social media posts with the Marketing Manager and propose social media opportunities and ideas that align with our keyword strategy
  • Track social media stats across all platforms for further analysis
  • Social media related research as determined
  • Process photo submissions for Fall 2017 Photo Contest
  • Photo & video curation for IES Abroad website
  • Provide Film Festival support as needed
  • Draft content for video focused prospect emails
  • Assist with web content creation and editing, as directed by Marketing staff

OTHER

  • Assist with collecting and organizing student profiles and student quotes
  • Assist with carrying out marketing campaigns or other marketing-related projects, as needed
  • Develop understanding of best-practices as needed, ex. competitor research
  • Other marketing-related projects, as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Any other task or duty as assigned or required

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Video editing experience (Final Cut Pro or iMovie)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; with a strong ability to write content for the web
  • Strong interest in study abroad
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms, either by personal use or in a professional brand setting
  • Strong computer skills; Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and patience for mastering new skills
  • Desire and dedication to be a key contributing member to a hardworking team

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Marketing, Communications, or Journalism major or related subject required

Physical demands:

  • Ability to remain in a seated position for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Ability to work for extended and continuous periods at a workstation operating a computer, phone and other office equipment i.e., a calculator, copier, printer etc. (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets from 10% to 15% of work time
  • Ability to lift or move supplies, equipment, boxes, documents and materials weighing up to 40lbs from 10% to 15% of work time
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email and in-person with employees, students, IES Abroad colleagues and third party vendors for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)

Working conditions/Environment:

  • Must be able to work in the Chicago Head Office on a regular set schedule
  • Due to the open plan environment, this workspace may experience varying noise levels
  • The workspace is well lit but with no direct natural light
