Summary of position:

The Internship Program Advisor & Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for providing top quality pre-departure advising, preparation, and service for IES Abroad Internship students, their families and home school personnel.  In addition to advising, 50% this role includes coordinating special projects for the IES Internships Team.

In the role as Advisor, this person serves as the resource on several IES Internships programs for both external and internal audiences, working closely with the Executive Director, Visa Specialist, department Program Manager, fellow Advisors and College Relations Managers on the Internship Programming Team.

As the Special Projects Coordinator, this person will be responsible for project coordination and execution, working directly with department Program Manager to provide assistance with research, analysis, and annual reporting of various projects including competitor analysis. The Special Projects Coordinator will also be responsible for preparing data to present in written, visual, and oral presentations.

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Preferred experience working in the field of study abroad/international education, internships or a comparable area preferred
  • Experience working with databases
  • Intermediate skills in Excel
  • Strong interpersonal communication and advising abilities with exceptional customer service focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and maintain high call and email volume
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to respond to calls/emails in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Proactive and takes accountability and responsibility
  • Strong leadership aptitude and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail with the capacity to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to embrace business process opportunities/changes
  • High level of enthusiasm and flexibility
  • Skilled in handling stressful situations, i.e., advising anxious students and parents
  • Strong social media literacy and database skills (data entry and analysis)
  • Skilled in Word & PowerPoint, and basic understanding of Outlook preferred
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations
  • Familiarity with intercultural competency and international education /study abroad a plus

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Internship Advisors periodically travel to campus events within the U.S. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be willing and able to drive a car
