Summary of position:

The Information Technology Product Specialist is a business area subject matter expert responsible for maintaining, administering and supporting business applications at IES Abroad. The Information Technology Product Specialist is responsible for managing projects, products and process, not people or departments.  The Information Technology Product Specialist must have a deep understanding of the functional business areas within the organization and must understand business processes, requirements, and product objectives. 

This role is required to increase business systems value to the functional business area from an information technology perspective, to ensure proper business systems usage, and to assist the organization in optimizing its investment in business systems technology. 

The Information Technology Product Specialist will support and document product strategy recommendations, perform business systems administration, execute change requests, document business requirements and functional specifications and facilitate user group and design discussions.

The Information Technology Product Specialist will be the interface between internal and external partners (e.g. IES Information Technology, IES Internal Business Functions, and External Vendors).  The Information Technology Product Specialist is not a representative, spokesperson, or champion for any one person, group, or departmental function but a representative and/or champion for all current and future information technology related business products & student systems.

Based on task assignment and/or workflow task completion the Information Technology Product Specialist will periodically be responsible for assuming the

following roles.  This list may be dynamic and these roles may change as business conditions change:

  • Project Manager
  • Business Analyst
  • Business Systems Administrator
  • Helpdesk
  • Quality Assurance
  • Vendor Relationship Liaison

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience administering and supporting business systems applications
  • Experience administering and supporting Campus Management Product Suite
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully planning, deploying, administering, supporting and facilitating new product launches
  • Excellent technical and business writing skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Solid IT business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive project and task performance status reports and project performance artifacts
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Adhere to office/departmental policies and procedures with infrequent unplanned absences
  • Act in a professional manner at all times
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Must have technical knowledge of information technology as a whole and be willing and motivated to quickly learn and adapt as needed in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to a dynamic and fast paced work environment required
  • Ability to adjust work schedules and perform work of normal business hours and on weekends as necessary

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
