Status: Full-time exempt
Schedule: M-F, 8:30-4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch, 37.5 hrs. /week, This role may require occasional evening and weekend work based on seasonal business needs/position requirements. Note: This is an exempt position, and due to the time difference between Chicago and the Asian Offices, there may be a need to work outside of core hours. Early-morning or evening hours may be necessary on occasion.
Reports to:  Dual reporting lines to CFO and the VP for Strategy, New Business Initiatives, & Analytics (VP)

Summary of position:

Provide advice regarding financial and budget matters, manage the annual budget planning process, forecast and monitor revenue and expenses, analyze variances, prepare regular and special financial reporting, and perform analytical, benchmarking and/or process improvement projects. Responsible for reports and presentations to senior management.  Manage/work with the financial team and coordinate budgets, pricing and strategic issues.


Essential job responsibilities & duties:

  • Manage and direct the annual budget process and quarterly forecast processes.
  • Work with the CFO on Multi-currency projections.
  • Develop, analyze, and, report on variances as compared to budget, forecast, and prior periods, projecting year end results and variances
  • Work with senior staff to help plan the activities of the departments to meet overall strategic goals of the organization
  • Support the revenue, fee and pricing process
  • Provide robust strategic advice to the senior management team
  • Assess the financial impacts of policy, fiscal and operational issues
  • Performs complex budgetary, management and financial analyses, including reporting on multiple currencies across a variety of reports
  • Report on operational data such as enrollments, revenues and expenses
  • Provide hands-on guidance with Operational issues like pricing, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Help train and advise international budget managers on guidelines, assumptions, and monthly review practices
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and participate in operational projects to support Chicago and Center budget managers and senior management, including cost restructure efforts and studies on enrollment, salaries, and other areas of concern
  • Develops and fosters a cross-functional team approach, providing financial management support to all levels within the organization
  • Act as a financial/operational resource and advisor to Chicago and Center budget managers and senior management
  • Develop and implement methods and techniques to improve forecasting, financial analysis, financial processes, and system functionality
  • Prepare and give presentations to executive leadership and Board of Directors as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Any other task or duty as assigned or required

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, develop, and maintain budgets and forecasts
  • Experience at preparing and presenting budget proposals
  • Experience working with multi-currency financial accounting and reporting a plus
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Excellent and effective communication skills, including the ability to articulate progress, concerns, and recommendations in a concise and timely manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive cross functional relationships
  • Project, time management, and problem solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong technical and business management background
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to connect data analysis with business issues and decisions
  • 7+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office package (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Proven ability to work effectively and successfully under minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to lead working groups and project teams
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of organization, including external advisors and Board Members.

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline required

Physical demands:

  • Ability to remain in a seated position for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time) at a workstation
  • Ability to work for extended and continuous periods at a workstation operating a computer, phone and other office equipment i.e., a calculator, copier, and computer printer (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets from 10% to 15% of work time
  • Ability to lift or move supplies, equipment, boxes, documents and materials weighing up to 40lbs from 10% to 15% of work time.
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email and in-person with employees and overseas employees for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time).
