Schedule: M-F, 8.30a.m. 4.30p.m, including occasional evening and weekend work and approximately 50% travel based on seasonal business needs and position requirements.

Summary of position:

The College Relations Manager performs three primary functions: to recruit students to apply and attend IES Abroad programs; to provide top quality pre-departure advising, preparation and service for all IES Abroad students; and to provide high quality service to U.S. colleges and universities in the IES Abroad consortium.


Essential job responsibilities & duties:

  • Manage on-going relationships with IES Abroad consortium study abroad advisors
  • Recruit student applicants and enrollees
  • Establish and/or develop relationships with advisors, administrators, and faculty of non-IES Abroad member colleges and universities
  • Serve as back up to Regional College Relations Managers by attending study abroad fairs and giving presentations
  • Establish and/or bridge relationships with advisors, administrators, and faculty of non-IES Abroad member colleges and universities
  • Serve as prospective students' advisor and main IES Abroad contact.
  • Serve as analyst for enrollment in the region
  • Serve as creative strategist to develop new approaches for reaching targeted recruitment and college relations goals
  • Serve as the departmental expert on specific IES Abroad international programs
  • Assist as needed in delivering materials to consulates for student visa processing

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong advising skills

  • Talent for organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks

  • Strong customer service skills and focus
  • Ability to handle/manage high call and email volume

  • Skilled in handling stressful situations, i.e., advising anxious students and parents
  • Passion for embracing business process improvement opportunities
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field of study abroad or related experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience working with or advising students
  • Proven track record in recruitment, customer service, higher education admissions, or study abroad advising
  • Personal study abroad experience preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and database literacy
  • Exceptional team player: proactive and responsible, with the ability to learn rapidly

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must have valid US Driver's license and ability and willingness to rent car/drive as required

 
Physical demands:

  • This job requires US-based travel, by car and/or airplane, estimated at 50% seasonally - some nights and weekends required
  • Must be able to drive several hours per day, as needed (approx. 25%)
  • Ability to remain in a seated position for the majority of the day while in office (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Ability to stand for several hours per day/long periods of time while attending study abroad fairs or giving presentations (approximately 50%)
  • Ability to work for extended and continuous periods in office operating a computer, phone and other office equipment i.e., a copier and computer printer (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets from 5% to 10% of work time
  • Ability to lift or move supplies, equipment, boxes, documents and materials weighing up to 40lbs from 10% to 15% of work time in office as well as in conjunction with travel
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email, and in-person with employees, students, parents and intuitional contacts for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)

Working conditions/Environment:

  • Must be available to participate in 24/7 emergency coverage (by cell phone), as needed
  • This job requires US-based travel, by car and/or airplane, estimated at 50% seasonally
  • May be required to work some nights and weekends as required by the needs of the department and this position
  • Must be able to work in office on a daily basis

Fiscal responsibilities:

  • Responsible for purchases via company credit card and ability to process expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Follow procedures set by IES Abroad policy with regards to business expenditures/travel costs
