Summary of position:

A member of the Marketing Department, the Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for organizing, editing, and managing the digital presence of Study Abroad Foundation (SAF).  This includes posting of all web content on the SAF website, which includes a public site and backend content management system.  Maintaining branding, style, and voice across all digital content is also a main function of this position, as well as writing/managing advertising and search engine optimization and analysis.

Essential job responsibilities & duties:

  • Support all SAF website initiatives including web content management, email marketing and social media.
  • Write, edit, review, and/or update of all online/digital content associated with SAF's website while maintaining consistent brand message.
  • Update website home page content regularly to make it fresh and exciting using content management system.
  • Work closely with the main content providers and editors of program information to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of all web content.
  • Integrate videos, blog content, and other social media outlets into the website where possible to optimize their exposure.
  • Maintain content calendar for updating content to ensure content remains relevant and correct.
  • Ensure prompt elimination of content errors or content that is out of date, as well as work with web team to eliminate technical errors.
  • Communicate with departments to update or remove content from website
  • Manage SAF's social media, specifically for student participants, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Launch and maintain digital initiatives such social media ambassadors, photo contests, hashtags, and handheld logos delivered to students to encourage them to identify as SAF scholars.
  • Create original content for website that can be shared on social media platforms.
  • Assist with the creation, writing, and deployment of email marketing.
  • Develop, manage, refine and improve taxonomy to maximize user experience.
  • Ensure content is search engine (SEO) optimized, and keep up with SEO-related trends and best practices to implement across the site.
  • Implement new program marketing campaigns and initiatives online.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience writing, editing, and developing targeted online marketing/communications
  • Proven exceptional writing, spelling, grammar, and editing skills
  • Web content management system experience strongly preferred
  • Social media management experience strongly preferred
  • SEO experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to grasp and understand website tonality
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a marketing team and others
  • Ability to write toward target audiences, both for online content and emails
  • Creative idea generator
  • Ability to think outside the box

Education, Licenses and/or Certifications etc:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, or Communications, related field or equivalent work experience

Physical demands:

  • Ability to remain in a seated position for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Ability to work for extended and continuous periods at a workstation operating a computer, phone and other office equipment i.e., a calculator, copier, and computer printer (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets from 10% to 15% of work time
  • Ability to lift or move supplies, equipment, boxes, documents and materials weighing up to 40lbs from 10% to 15% of work time
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email and in-person with employees, students and overseas employees for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email and in-person with IES Abroad US and Global employees, students and parents for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time)

Working conditions/Environment:

  • This position may be required to work beyond office hours as defined by the needs of the department and/or organization
  • Due to the work environment, this workspace may experience varying noise levels. The workspace is well lit but with no direct natural light
  • Must be able to work in Chicago office on a daily basis

Fiscal responsibilities:

  • Responsible for purchases via company credit card and ability to process expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
