Financial Planning and Budget Analyst

Status: Full-time, exempt

Schedule: M-F, 37.5 hrs/week, 8.30a.m. - 4.30p.m, including occasional evening and weekend work based on business needs/position requirements. (This position may be a need to work outside of core hours based on the essential duties and responsibilities of the position)

Summary of position:

The Financial Planning and Budget Analyst will report directly to the Senior Financial Analyst and will provide support for the annual budget and forecast processes, monitoring revenue and spending, analyzing actual to budget and forecast variances, providing ad hoc analysis support, performing analytical, trend, and benchmarking analysis, and identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support coordination of annual budget and forecast processes, including timely and accurate data input by key customers/functional groups, budget and forecast consolidation and analysis, and presentation to management
  • Collect, organize, and analyze large amounts of financial data from variety of sources using clear, well-documented, and understandable methodology
  • Supports monthly analysis, including providing commentary on key budget and/or forecast to actual variances and recommendations for future actions as required
  • Perform trend analysis, including identification and communication to management of financial risks, opportunities, and/or areas for improvement
  • Respond to special requests for financial data and analyses, ensuring accurate and timely input for key decision makers
  • Responsible for any other task or duty as assigned

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • 3-5 years of relevant, proven and progressive finance work experience
  • Advanced skills in MS Office package (Word, Excel, including strong Excel modeling skills, Outlook and PowerPoint), as well as other financial software systems
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to compile data and information from multiple sources; and work well with numbers and formulas
  • Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate progress, concerns, and recommendations in concise and timely manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to work effectively and successfully under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of organization

Education Licenses and/or Certifications etc.:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MBA or relevant progressive work experience

Additional Information:

  • Experience in higher education and non-profit financial operations preferred
  • Experience in multi-currency financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting preferred
